What is Pinterest? | The Best Idea Ever | Little Things

I’ve been meaning to write about the website Pinterest for a few months now, and then it occurred to me that it would make the perfect subject for a Little Things post!

It’s hard to explain what Pinterest is to someone who has never heard of it, but here’s how the site’s creators describe it:

“Think of Pinterest as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can create collections of things you love and “follow” collections created by people with great taste.

People use Pinterest to collect and share all sorts of things — wedding inspiration, favorite T-shirts, DJ equipment. You name it, people are pinning it.”

I use Pinterest as a way to keep all sorts of ideas in one easily accessible place.  Among others, I have boards for photography that inspires me, quotes that amuse me, and tasty looking foods I hope to cook one day.

It’s a wonderful website for those who are planning a wedding because you can “pin” inspiration from all over the internet: your favorite blogs, your photographer’s website, or even Google images.

I’ve included a few screen shots of some of my boards to give you a better idea of what I’m talking about.

Currently access to the site is limited to those who have received invitations requesting that they join.

Fun update: For those of you with iPhones there is now a Pinterest App!  Yipee!!  You can check it out here on iTunes or just search for it from the app store on your phone.  You know I love my iPhone and this app just made my day!

Inspiration for decorating the office of my dreams.
