South Florida Family Photographer | Sixty Years of Marriage and Three Generations of Family

A while before we headed home for Thanksgiving I was contacted by my mom’s friend Joann who wanted family portraits done while we were in town.  Of course I agreed to do them, but I was very excited to learn that these were not your ordinary family portraits.  Joann’s parents are celebrating SIXTY years of marriage this month and they wanted pictures of their family to celebrate the occasion.  Joann’s son and his wife were in town for Thanksgiving so we got to take some nice shots of the three generations of family.

Joann’s parents were so adorable together!  As a newlywed myself, I loved talking with them about their marriage and how love changes after sixty years of being married.  I asked Joann’s mom if she loved her husband more now than she ever has, and she laughed and said that it takes a lot more patience now, but that yes, she does.  They told me about the snowy day when they met and went sledding together, and gave me the same advice that they got over a half century ago- Never lose your sense of humor!

It was wonderful to see a couple so in love after all this time.  At ninety-four years old, Joann’s father can still make his wife giggle like a young girl, and it was a privilege to capture that.
