Weddings often celebrate certain aspects of the couple’s relationship as well as their respective cultural backgrounds.
What you don’t usually see is the combining of two completely different and totally vibrant traditions into a week long celebration.
Did I mention that the whole thing took place in Jamaica?
Meet Sharan + Jude, the couple behind the most spectacular destination wedding I’ve ever seen.
Her family is from India, his is from Nigeria and because the majority of the guests would have to travel, they opted to get married in Jamaica.
Guests enjoyed a week long retreat at the beautiful all inclusive Iberostar Rose Hall Suites which hosted the wedding.
Matthew and I had an amazing time with both families who welcomed us warmly as if they’d known us for years.
Despite the stories that swirled around the hotel of 30+ hour travel time to get to Jamaica the atmosphere was full of love and excitement to see this fabulous couple get married.
Sharan and Jude had three wedding ceremonies: First a Nigerian one, then an Indian one and finally a Christian one.
As the week went on, and the different ceremonies took place, we’d joke about how they were getting closer to being 100% married.
Because there were so many different activities throughout the wedding week, I couldn’t possible put them all in one blog post.
This is the first installment of island fun, which features the traditional Nigerian ceremony as well as the Indian Pre Ceremony activities.
Love what you see? There’s plenty more on the way!
Head on over to part two for the traditional Indian ceremony, then over to part three for the Christian ceremony and reception, and finally to part four for the day after session and snorkel cruise.
XOXO,
B
