This past weekend Matthew and I had the pleasure of taking a quick weekend trip to Nassau, Bahamas for Shannon and Jesse’s destination wedding. Although we’ve traveled for weddings before (and LOVE to do so) their wedding was our first one we had to use our passport for, thus making it our first “real” destination wedding in my mind. They were also our first couple we hadn’t met before their wedding weekend, but as soon as we met them, we were immediately at ease. Florida born and currently residing in New York City, this pair remained laid back all weekend and were a blast to work with.
The first night we were in the Bahamas, Shannon had her bridal shower at the house that she was staying at with her parents. Since her friends and family live all over the country, it was easiest to do it while everyone was in town for the wedding. It was a fun evening and I enjoyed hearing stories about Shannon and Jesse throughout the years. Friends since high school, Jesse was the only guy that Shannon’s mom trusted to take care of her girl. After heading to off to college Jesse continued to look out for Shannon and eventually they gave into the feelings that had been there all along. After college they were living in New York City and he knew that he had to spend the rest of his life with his best friend.
Jesse organized a proposal like none other, which involved Central Park and having Shannon’s two best friends and her mom fly into town. He sent them a power point presentation which outlined the details of the proposal and where everyone was supposed to hide and what hand signal meant they were supposed to appear. It was so adorable hearing all of the thought that went into asking her to marry him and the way her friends and family told the story with such affection towards him.
The Bahamas was such a perfect setting for this beautiful couple’s wedding and we so enjoyed getting to know everyone and spending time there.
Stay tuned for Part Two, which will be filled with pictures from the wedding day!
