As most of our friends and family know, Matthew and I have been DYING to get a dog. Matthew grew up with dogs as a kid, and I never had them. My pet owning experience has been limited to fish and parakeets- hardly the satisfying (although sometimes challenging) relationship that comes with owning a dog. We wanted a dog when we still lived in Macon, but we knew we’d be studying for the bar during the summer (which ended up yielding such fascinating blog posts as this one) and it wasn’t the right time.
Matthew’s parents have a Doberman named Bella (you can see some pictures of her here) who they got from Barrie Hoytt, a wonderful breeder in Tennessee. We ended up getting a sweet deal on a dog from Barrie, and happily traveled to his ranch to pick up our baby boy. He breeds amazingly gorgeous dogs, and our Maccabee is no exception.
His ears have been cropped, which is why they are in those funny looking braces. We took him to the park today, where a five year old on the playground informed us that in her opinion he looked like a black and white bat. Silly kids, they say interesting things!
We are so thrilled for our latest addition to the family!! Check him out!

That’s adorable! Nate and I want a dog so badly but the condo association has them banned so we’ll have to wait till we don’t live here anymore 🙁
Aw!! Congratulations on the new addition, adorable!
