Mayfield Park Wedding | Liz + Doug

If you asked me to describe my ideal wedding to photograph, it would be the one that Liz and Doug put together.

However, I will say that as a woman who is 5 months pregnant, the fact that they served everyone (including us!!) an eleven course meal at their reception weighs quite heavily in my decision 🙂

In all seriousness, it was a wonderfully intimate wedding, which allowed everyone to focus on the most important part of the day- the love between Liz and Doug.

Their ceremony was held at Mayfield Park in Austin which is a gorgeous nature preserve that is also home to several peacocks!

Since Liz and Doug saw each other before the ceremony we had plenty of time to explore all the pretty parts of the park before the guests arrived.

When people arrived at the park they were each handed a small flag to wave in celebration at the end of the ceremony.

Liz made all the flags and they featured festive phrases like “Woo Hoo!” as well as silhouettes of their cat Gatsby and dog Rosco.

It was a fun touch and everyone held onto their flags all night long, even waving them at the reception.

The reception was held at Barley Swine, an amazing local restaurant which just so happens to be Liz and Doug’s favorite spot to eat.

The pair rented out the entire fish restaurant houston and treated everyone to what was likely one of the most adventurous and delicious meals of their lives.

The menu featured some pairings that seemed unusual at first glance (like beets with mustard ice cream) but I can honestly say that every morsel made my tastebuds dance with delight!

The way the restaurant is set up allows you to look into the kitchen as the chefs prepare your food and I commented to Liz at one point that it was like watching Santa’s elves make the toys you were about to get.

The atmosphere was relaxed and familial and everyone had a wonderful time.

Liz and Doug, we are so incredibly grateful that you had us there for your wedding day.

It was such a pleasure and there will always be a special place in our hearts for you two after being such fantastic hosts and for the sweet gift you gave our baby girl.

Hooray for (finally!) being married!!
